A5/X7 problems

I am not trying to bash or create a problem, but I have a DW that destroys paint.  I thought it was just me/mine so it has only ever been used in 1 game and a little in the back yard trying to fix my problem.  Then I found on some forums other people are having the same problem.  They are saying with the DW barrel the inserts sit too close to the rear of the barrel and with some of the smaller bores this causes the bolt to collide with the insert.  When this happens the ball can get caught in the middle causing breaks.  I do not experience these same problems with my traditional freak back.

Seems as though there is a problem and it is not just me.  My dilema is that I do not want to sell someone a barrel that I don't beleive will work for them, on the other hand I am out  a good amout of $$.

Please tell me there is some kind of solution to this problem.  Thank you kindly for your time, and for your attention to this issue.

I have the same problem.  Seems with the A5/X7 thread the inserts sit further into the barrel, they don't sit flush with the end of the barrel, the inserts sit a few centimeters inside the end of the barrel.  This creates a lip that the balls encounter and cause them to break in the barrel.  I compared my A5 threaded barrel to my friends cocker threaded barrel and with the cocker threaded barrel the inserts sit flush with the end of the barrel.  I emailed deadlywind awhile ago to ask if that's the way the inserts are supposed to sit with the A5 threaded barrels.  Haven't heard from them, tried calling a few times and just got an automated message.  Others who have had the A5 threaded versions have sold them because of this problem, apparently not a good combination.  I too would like to know if there is a solution to this problem, don't want to give up on the barrel as i've spent good money on it, but i guess if need be i'll buy the cocker version and warn other A5/X7 users about the issue.  I'm not hating or anything but if this a genuine issue than I think people should be made aware of it if they're gonna spend close to $100 for a barrel system that will break balls.  Would love to hear from the company.

Hi guys, we've had a couple phone calls about this problem (I'm guessing they might have been you?) and we're working to figure it out. It seems to mostly be a problem with the new Phenom gun, but we do occasionally see some issues with other a5 or x7 guns due to how the bolt progresses into the back of the barrel. We don't have a 100% solution as of yet because it seems different guns behave differently. We will definitely make yours work though, so please give us a call again and ask for Colin. My apologies for the headaches with this, but as mentioned we will definitely get it resolved for you.

Has this problem been resolved? I am looking to purchase the Fibur for my A5. I already purchased the Apex 2 adapter and Apex 2 tip for the  two Deadlywind barrels.

Ok we have any update for these issues- Specically, this problem shouldnt be happening with a normal a5/x7, but if you are running a phenom, there is a definite problem which we have now addressed by adding a transition sleeve behind the freak insert. This same transition ring should work in an a5/x7 as well, so we can try this solution if you are continuing to have these breakage problems. I'd recommend calling Colin during business hours and mention you saw this discussion on the forums and would like to find out about using the transition sleeve with your a5 or x7 due to paint breakage problems.

I chose to go with the competitor and an iFit barrel back.

Just a quick update, we now have the transition ring available for our fibur barrels when used with tippmann guns - just order the Phenom version. We are making these rings in-house out of stainless steel, they're really thin but the stainless makes them very durable.

@redtide- the iFit is a good product, we are fans of TechT over here. Just FYI, the iFit is a good option for using with our Null barrel as well.

Hi, im aware of the issues the Fibur Barrel has with the Phenom and I know there is a fix for that, but I use my phenom with the iSwitch so it acepts autococker barrel. My question is: Does the Fibur will still have the same issues with the Phenom eventhough being cocker threaded?
Thank you

gualcor-

An AC Fibur (or an AC Null) mounted to an iFit on your Phenom will work fine without any of the issues that our earlier Phenom Fibur barrels had.

And directly to the iSwitch? AC Fibur with insert mounted directly to the Phenom with iSwitch?
